Get me to Mexico!

An opportunity knocked in the fall and we said “yes”… then we had to figure out how to make it work. One of our great friends decided to celebrate his 50th this year in his typical style… with over the top class and unlimited fun. Cabo San Lucas. Stellar resort. No kids. He sent the invite to a pretty big group of friends and a whole lot of us jumped on the excuse to catch some sun – there were almost 50 who RSVPed “YES.”

Fortunately Lucy is a pretty responsible dog at the ripe age of 17 so she had no problem watching the kids for the long weekend. Mumsie made the trip up from Bassett to help keep Lucy’s water bowl full (duh, Lucy doesn’t have thumbs so she needs a hand grabbing things). Mumsie probably did a little more than that to keep the wheels on the track while we were gone – thanks ma!

After an early departure from Stafford on Thursday, we were in Cabo by late morning and at the pool soon after. The resort was fantastic. The food was off the charts good. The Birthday Guy had been to the resort before and claimed the restaurants were the best in Cabo, and we left thinking he had to be right. We took breaks from the great eats to watch the whales swim by just off the coast and I hear that the rooftop bar stayed open fairly late. If you could make the turn the next day (6am…), the morning sunrises were absolutely insane (#nofilter) and almost looked like the clouds were on fire.

We did sneak away from the resort twice. First to check out the city center in San José del Cabo and then second to take a pretty epic (for a variety of reasons) sunset boat trip out to El Arco. Then all of a sudden disaster struck and it was already Sunday morning. We said our goodbyes, jumped on a plane, and like that… we were back to reality.
