Well not a lot of basketball per say but still a busy month at the Wiktor household. I was gone for a good portion of the month for work-related reasons but we made the most out of the time I was around. March saw a few things that have been sitting on the ToDo list for some time finally get crossed off. I’ve been eying up a Reg Barber tamper for quite some time and finally pulled the trigger on one. The espresso hasn’t been the same! Needless to say we weren’t disappointed on our splurge.
I also underwent what could be described as round two of home brewing. The first round was more of a guided session with my old, and much more experienced, brother over the Christmas holiday. That batch turned out well but it was to be expected as Mike knows what he’s doing. This round (3 Mar brew and 21 Mar bottle) was some what of an in between brew. I got the recipe from a local brewing store and it wasn’t a full “all grain” brew (the recipe cheats and calls for malt extract and uses some honey to up the ABV) but it was still good to brew on my own and figure out most of the process. Next time will be full grain, complete with a mash tun and strike temperature calculations. 48 bottles of the good stuff are now finishing up the last bit of sugar and making bubbles; they should be ready to drink in another week or so.
No major trips this month but we did have a few fun outings. We took a trip to the beach where Lucy got to run wild and Sophia got to stick her hand in the sand and we also made a trip down to the Hillcrest Farmers’ Market.
