We might not have had the spring heat wave the rest of the country experienced, but spring is here and the Wiktors are enjoying every minute. As Phil mentioned in the last post, he has been busy on his second batch of home brew. The other weekend Phil spent a Saturday night crunching numbers so we could add sugar to the beer (sugar=bubbles) and bottle it. After a long process of sterilizing the equipment plus 48 bottles and 48 caps we were ready to add sugar and bottle. Now two weeks later Phil popped the top on the first bottle of “Not My Red Ale” over the weekend and he was pleased with the results. A bit hoppier than he anticipated, but tasty nonetheless.
Spring has also been busy with swim lessons. Sophia and I go during the week but we rescheduled and had a Saturday lesson so Phil could tag along and snap some photos. Despite all his jokes about our uber serious swim lessons, Dad was pretty impressed with his water baby. Sophia loves the water and is becoming more comfortable each week.
Last weekend we hosted Easter brunch for a group of our friends. I love having an excuse to spend all morning in the kitchen and enjoyed whipping up some new recipes – honey mustard glazed ham, artichoke strata, quiche lorraine, smoked salmon spread, plus many more treats. Phil was responsible for drinks – bloody marys, mimosas and bellinis – and he also did a great job. It was a full day of fun starting at noon and winding down just before sunset. No pictures of the delicious spread or the fun group we spent the day with, but Karyna was nice enough to do a quick family photo session and snap some pictures of Sophia in the backyard. Can you believe she’s almost one year old!
