Sophia’s First!

Here we are, half way through May and we’re finally getting around to writing about Sophia’s first birthday. The day certainly didn’t come and go without celebration! My parents visited to help Sophia celebrate her big day and it was great having them here (more on their visit later).

We had a pretty low key celebration with the typical gift opening and cake smashing. Similar to Christmas, Sophia was mostly interested in all the ribbons while we opened her gifts but she has enjoyed playing with all her loot since. After gifts we had carrot cake cupcakes complete with a candle for Sophia. Once Sophia realized she couldn’t cram the entire cupcake in her mouth at once, she dove in by the fistful!

It was really fun to look back at pictures of Sophia from over the year and see how much she has grown and changed. From hair to no hair, from a little peanut to our “chubba wubba,” and now a one year old who is full of smiles and personality. Here’s a trip down memory lane…

It’s really hard to believe Sophia has been a part of our family for a whole year already, but at the same time it’s hard to remember our little Wiktor family without her. Even crazier to think that in a few short months we’ll have another Wiktor to add to the mix! Our new addition also played a special part in Sophia’s birthday since I had my 20 week ultrasound on the same day. Grandma and Papa D stayed home with Sophia while Phil and I headed to the hospital. It was great having Phil here this time around and finding out right at the ultrasound if we were expecting a girl or a boy. And…we’re having a boy! Sophia will have a little brother – William Bennett – to play with in September. Phil and I feel so blessed and can’t wait to welcome our son into the world.
