Wow – the Wiktors have been slacking on their posts! Before things get really busy around here I thought it was time to catch up. I also happen to have some free time on my hands as I patiently wait for the arrival of some pretty important belated birthday gifts.
The first part of 2011 has flown by and here we are just weeks before the arrival of the newest Wiktor (her official due date is May 3rd). Over the last few months I started a new job, visited family in Pennsylvania, made a quick trip to Minnesota, said goodbye to my roommate/sister-in-law, had some wonderful visitors who whipped the nursery into shape, got spoiled by friends at Sophia’s second baby shower and enjoyed lots of R&R…especially over the last 2 weeks.
It was great having Carolyn at Casa de Wiktor the last 6 months but she and Rick decided it was time to head to warmer waters and are off to Maui. I’m already secretly thinking of excuses to visit.
At the end of March Bill & Elaine arrived for operation nursery. We painted, assembled furniture, shopped, spruced up the yard, organized, filed taxes, and finagled some sales on Craigslist. At the end of each day we sat down to a great meal and wonderful conversation. Ok, so I really didn’t contribute to many of those items except the last two, but you get the idea. By the time they left the nursery was well on its way to completion!
My friends here are great and hosted a beautiful shower for Sophia the 2nd weekend in April complete with the requisite baby games, cake and lots of baby talk. I’ve been so fortunate to have such a wonderful group of women around me the last few months and look forward to Sophia spending lots of time with their kids. Coincidentally, they are all girls.
As I mentioned, I’ve also had lots of R&R time the last two weeks. Elaine arrived last week to “babysit” yours truly. Although Elaine continues to work while she’s here we’ve found time to squeeze in a mani/pedi, a trip to the Oceanside Harbor, [more] shopping, lots of good cooking, put some final touches on the nursery (pictures to follow) and celebrate my 28th birthday.
The house is clean, the diapers are bought, my bag is packed and now I’m just anxiously awaiting the arrival of those belated birthday gifts. More exciting news to follow very soon, I promise!
