Catching up…

All our faithful blog stalkers (hopefully we have one, or two) may have noticed we took a hiatus from posting, but now it’s time to catch up! Catching up was the name of the game for the end of our summer as we spent nearly every weekend traveling to visit family and friends. Our first adventure was to good ‘ol Minnie for Michael Kuan’s wedding (a long time friend of Phil’s). We had a great time celebrating with Kuan and Jenny, as well as other friends and family we rarely get the pleasure of seeing. The next weekend we Viva’d Las Vegas with my best bud Sydney and her hubby Peter. Despite the fact that Syd and I are on opposite coasts (she’s in D.C.) we always manage to get together at least once a year – it’s wonderful! After a weekend of glitz in Vegas we spent our 3rd weekend in Los Padres National Forest, just outside Santa Barbara, camping with Mike and Heather. Although we live in the same state, CA is quite large so we decided to pick a half way point to meet and spend the weekend together. We trecked our way through the forest on a 12 mile hike, sampled some home brew courtesy of Mike and tested out some old Wiktor camping recipes. Did you know you can cook bacon and eggs in a paper bag over hot coals??? After three weekends on the road we finally took a weekend to recover before heading to the great state of Michigan for Labor Day. Sad to say we didn’t get any family photos on this trip, but we were so grateful to spend quality time with all of the Wiktors and Grandpa Joe and Rachelle. After a long month of traveling, we had the pleasure of hosting Bill & Elaine for a weekend in San Diego. We were spoiled with lots of food, wine and wonderful company and can’t wait for more visitors!
