Perhaps the spark was the discovery of some local California Mudbugs on an area hike last month. Perhaps it was just long overdue. Whatever the reason, plans finally solidified this month and we managed to have an epic crawfish boil right here in sunny San Diego. I’m not one to promote things so count this as a moment of weakness, but the folks at Louisiana Crawfish Co exceeded all expectations. A couple of sacks of selects found it’s way to SAN with the help of Fed-Ex.
After we picked up the 70+ lbs of crawdads, we cracked a beer, lit the flame, and got to work. These things were closer to baby lobsters than crawfish. I can’t think of a better use of a Saturday afternoon then peeling, eating, and repeating for hours on end.
