Double Peak and the Del Mar Dog Beach were the highlights of my weekend here in San Diego. Lucy was invited to both events as well. Her first trip to the dog beach was a success to say the least. Until today, her only water experience was me throwing her in the pool at the…
Spring fling
It seems that April passed in the blink of an eye and May is already right around the corner. For anyone that is wondering, we are still living in the wonderful extended stay and keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll find a house soon. Lucky for us, there is so much to see and do…
Trail update
In case you’re wondering what I’ve been up to while Phil is hard at work in Marine land, here’s a quick update. Most of my days are spent continuing my job search, but I try to get outside each day to take advantage of this glorious weather. So far I’ve done some shorter hikes on…
It’s not big but Lucy doesn’t mind…
So it’s been a few weeks and we’re still living in the wonderful Extended Stay in Oceanside. I checked into my new squadron, HMLA/T-303, a few weeks ago and it’s been busy, busy, busy ever since. They handed me a few thousand pages of user manuals for the new UH-1Y helicopter and I started to…
We’re Home!
After 2589.53 miles we arrived at our “new” home in California. The next adventure is to begin our house search! Until then, we are staying at an extended stay hotel. As Phil said, the 250 square foot room is our motivation to get out there and find a house ASAP.
Long hike, short drive
Did both today and they took the same amount of time. We woke up, ate breakfast, and headed back into the National Park. Lucy was left at the Grand Canyon kennels and we headed off to the Bright Angel trail. 6 miles round trip from 6,700 ft at the rim to 4,500 ft at the…
Snow in Mexico!?
Well I don’t know if there was any snow in Mexico but New Mexico had some waiting for us when we woke up. Haven’t had to brush snow off our cars in quite some time… We got an early start on the day and arrived at the Grand Canyon around 4pm. It was a rough…
1475 down, 1125 to go
So we arrived in Santa Fe around 1ish today. We had plenty of time to explore this little sleepy town and kinda liked it. It was much smaller than we had thought (only 70,000 or so people live here) but there was a nice little downtown area full of shops and local street vendors. Tomorrow…
Hello “R-Kansas”
Who knows why Arkansas isn’t pronounced “R-Kansas” but it isn’t. Two things we do know is that a) the Clinton Presidential Library should stay open past 5pm (we got there around 5:07 and missed it) and b) the River Market area of Little Rock is pretty neat. There seems to be a lot of fun…
