In addition to a couple of birthdays and a little bit of work travel on the schedule, we had a couple of much anticipated visitors swing by during the middle of the month. Both parents and kids alike were excited to spend a few days with John and Lauren. We spent a little time up north bumming around the National Mall and a little time down south in Fredericksburg.

On Sunday we packed into two cars and headed up to see Grandma and Grandpa (append “great” depending on your generation) in the land of towns, burgs, and villes. No fun or food was had there… Not all time was spent on the road though; we made sure to fire up the family kitchen for a few delicious meals and we even made it to the new fire pit in the backyard for evening of smores.

There seemed to be sufficient smiles and laughs to seal the deal on a return trip when everyone can carve a little bit of free time out of our busy schedules. Always happy to have visitors!
