On the top of the kids’ to do list each summer is a trip to the beach. Mom did not disappoint and we were able to squeeze in two quick trips to the beach this summer.
First, we made a quick trip to Virginia Beach and Cape Charles. While the kids had fun splashing around in the larger waves of the Atlantic, mom quickly decided they hadn’t been missing out by not visiting Virginia Beach the last few summers. Hoping to find a quieter beach scene, the next morning we drove across the Chesapeake Bay bridge to check out Cape Charles. I had heard lots of great things about this quiet beach town and it did not disappoint. No big waves since it’s on the bay side, but the kids loved wading super far out in the water, collecting shells and eating ice cream of course.
At the end of the summer we headed to North Carolina to visit some friends that had moved there. Our friends are lucky enough to live a short car ride away from Topsail Beach and we spent our afternoons in the salty water watching our little ballerinas do cartwheels in the sand. It was such a relaxing trip catching up with our friends and the perfect way to wind down summer.
